Change icons in Windows 7
Change Desktop Icons

Change This PC, Network, User, and Recycle Bin icons.

Personalizing your icons is a great way to truly make your PC unique and why we offer a plethora of icon packs to choose from. First you’ll need to choose and download any icon pack you want from the market. After that, extract the icons to a folder on your computer then follow the instructions below to customize your Windows icons.

Instructions:

  1. Start by right clicking an empty location on the Desktop and click Personalize.
  2. In the new window, click Change desktop icons from the left side panel.
  3. In the new window that opens check the boxes next to each of the icons you would like to appear on your Desktop.
  4. Next, choose an icon to customize by clicking on it in the preview box.
  5. Click Change icon… and then click Browse… to select the icon you wish to use from the folder with your Thematic Market icons you downloaded and extracted earlier.
  6. Click OK on both Desktop icon settings windows to close them.

After changing your icons, you should see them on your Desktop, in File Explorer, and on the taskbar when the folder is open.

Restore Default Desktop Icons

Undo the changes you made in the instructions above.

Instructions:

  1. Start by right clicking an empty location on the Desktop and click Personalize.
  2. In the new window, click Change desktop icons from the left side panel.
  3. In the new window that opens choose an icon you would like to revert back to default by clicking on it in the preview window.
  4. Next, click Restore Default.
  5. Click OK to close the window and save your change.
Change Folder & App Icons

Give your folders their own icons.

First you’ll need to choose and download any icon pack you want from the market. After that, extract the icons to a folder on your computer then follow the instructions below to customize your Windows icons.

Instructions:

  1. Right click any folder whose icon you want to change and click Properties from the context menu.
  2. In the new window that opens go the Customize tab and click Change Icon…
  3. In the new window that opens click Browse to select the icon you wish to use from the folder with your Thematic Market icons you downloaded and extracted earlier.
  4. Click OK on both windows to close them.

  1. Right click any shortcut whose icon you want to change and click Properties from the context menu.
  2. In the new window that opens go the Shortcut tab and click Change Icon…
  3. In the new window that opens click Browse to select the icon you wish to use from the folder with your Thematic Market icons you downloaded and extracted earlier.
  4. Click OK on both windows to close them.
